O manuseio inadequado de fogos de artifício levou à internação hospitalar mais de cinco mil pessoas entre os anos de 2008 e 2017, segundo levantamento elaborado pelo Conselho Federal de Medicina (CFM), em parceria com as Sociedades Brasileiras de Cirurgia da Mão (SBCM) e de Ortopedia e Traumatologia (SBOT). O alerta integra uma série de ações preparadas pelas três entidades sobre os riscos de acidentes e queimaduras durante as festas juninas e a comemorações ligadas à Copa do Mundo.
“Nos últimos 21 anos, o Brasil registrou 218 mortes por acidente com fogos de artifício. No período, foram 84 acidentes fatais na Região Sudeste, seguido de 75 no Nordeste e 33 no Sul. Já nas regiões Centro-Oeste e Norte, foram registrados, juntos, 26 óbitos. Além de mortes –aproximadamente dez a cada ano–, o uso de fogos de artifício pode provocar queimaduras, lesões com lacerações e cortes, amputações de membros, lesões de córnea ou perda da visão e lesões auditivas” – ressalta a assessoria do CFM, em mensagem à Rede TC.
Em média, são registradas nos serviços públicos de saúde cerca de 80 internações somente no mês de junho. “Se considerarmos que em algumas regiões as festas juninas têm início nas quermesses de maio e vão até julho, podemos verificar que um terço de todas as hospitalizações acontecem apenas neste período de 90 dias. É preciso, portanto, ter cautela no manuseio desses fogos, sobretudo promovendo ações de proteção às crianças” – destaca Carlos Vital, presidente do CFM.
“É importante falarmos francamente sobre esse assunto e educar as próximas gerações. Não há fogos seguros para o manuseio de crianças, elas não devem manipular e nem ficar expostas a nenhum tipo de fogos, mesmo os de classificação livre. As crianças devem saber que fogos são perigosos e que só devem ser manipulados por adultos, seguindo instruções de segurança ou por profissionais. Essa postura é que reduzirá os acidentes de forma eficiente” – afirma o presidente da SBCM, Milton Pignataro.
