Pelo menos 16 municípios devem estar representados na primeira etapa do 32º Campeonato Estadual de Karatê, que acontece neste sábado (a partir de 10h30) e domingo (9h), no ginásio poliesportivo da Escola Master. A previsão é do professor Evandro Barcelos, que estima a participação de 400 pessoas na competição, que faz parte do Circuito Olímpico, sendo seletiva estadual de kata por equipe para o Campeonato Brasileiro.
Evandro detalha que os atletas participantes são de 26 clubes, dos municípios de São Mateus, Pedro Canário, Jaguaré, Pinheiros, Colatina, Nova Venécia, Linhares, Vitória, Serra, Guarapari, Venda Nova do Imigrante, Santa Teresa, Santa Maria de Jetibá, Viana, Vila Velha e Fundão.
A entrada é gratuita. No primeiro dia competem atletas de até 15 anos, e no domingo os demais caratecas. A premiação será com medalhas personalizadas, fundidas com a imagem do monumento histórico Igreja Velha.
