A ginasta Pinheirense Geovanna Santos da Silva, de 16 anos, mostrou que o Espírito Santo não é um celeiro da ginástica rítmica à toa. Única atleta do Estado no Gymnasiade, o mundial escolar, ela voltou de Marrocos com duas medalhas na bagagem: ouro por equipe e bronze no conjunto cinco cordas. As informações são da assessoria de comunicação da Prefeitura de Pinheiros.
“Se eu não fosse atleta, talvez não conseguiria viajar para fora do Brasil, então a ginástica tem me proporcionado isso. Também já fui para a Romênia, onde fiquei entre as cinco melhores no Torneio Internacional, e Argentina, quando fui campeã pan-americana juvenil, com cinco ouros. No Marrocos tive dias livres para passear e conheci vários lugares legais” – afirmou Geovanna.
Natural de Pinheiros, ela era uma criança extremamente elétrica. O jeito foi a mãe procurar aulas de balé. Não achou, então optou pela ginástica rítmica e surgiu um amor à primeira vista. Depois Geovanna fez um teste para um clube de Vitória, passou e teve que se mudar.
“O pai, que trabalhava com extração de granito, abandonou o emprego para acompanhar a filha junto com o restante da família. Mesmo com algumas dificuldades para manter a filha no alto rendimento, os pais e o irmão não deixaram de apoiar Geovanna, que concilia os treinos de segunda a sábado com os estudos. Ela está no segundo ano do ensino médio” – complementa a assessoria.
Em julho, Geovanna tem um compromisso importante em Curitiba: o Campeonato Brasileiro Adulto, que ainda serve como seletiva para o Mundial, o Pan-Americano e o Sul-Americano. Atleta conta com o apoio da técnica Gizela Batista e também do irmão João, que virou árbitro de ginástica rítmica para auxiliá-la no esporte.
