O principal destaque de Pedro Canário foi Kayo Santos, obtendo duas medalhas de ouro, em kumite e em kata. Joel Kock também conquistou o primeiro lugar, em kata. Os atletas de Pedro Canário competem no Campeonato Estadual pelo Cricaré Karatê Clube (CKC). O professor Evandro Barcelos relata que o CKC participou com 44 caratecas, sendo 18 de São Mateus, conquistando 13 medalhas de ouro.
